GIP (Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Peptide)
Incretin hormone paired with GLP-1 in dual agonists.
What is GIP (Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Peptide)?
GIP is a 42-amino acid incretin released by intestinal K-cells after carbohydrate or fat intake. It enhances insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. Dual GIP/GLP-1 agonists (tirzepatide) and triple GIP/GLP-1/glucagon agonists (retatrutide) leverage GIP for additive metabolic effects.
