Cagrilintide
Long-acting amylin analog studied alongside GLP-1 agonists.
Mechanism of Action
A long-acting analog of amylin, a pancreatic hormone co-secreted with insulin. It slows gastric emptying, increases satiety, and suppresses glucagon — complementary to GLP-1 mechanisms.
Research Areas
Common Research Protocols
Investigational weekly dosing, often paired with semaglutide in trials.
Protocols summarized for educational reference from published research. Not dosing guidance.
Cited Research
Cagrilintide plus semaglutide for obesity (Phase 2)
Combination produced greater weight loss than either agent alone.
Important Considerations
- •Investigational; not yet FDA-approved as monotherapy.
- •GI side effects similar to GLP-1 agonists.
