Ziconotide (Prialt) is a n-type calcium channel blocker · analgesic peptide studied for severe chronic pain refractory to systemic analgesics, intrathecal morphine. Synthetic version of ω-conotoxin MVIIA from cone snail Conus magus; selectively blocks N-type voltage-gated calcium channels on primary afferent nerve terminals in the spinal dorsal horn, inhibiting nociceptive neurotransmitter release.
